The mid May projection was legit!!

The official word straight from Trader Joe’s corporate:

“Trader Joe’s Store in Washington (Brookland) to Open May 15th

Grand opening celebration to include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, samples and giveaways

On Thursday, May 15th, Trader Joe’s will open a new Washington (Brookland), D.C. store. The new store is located at 701 Monroe Street NE. This 11,000 sq. ft. store is across the street from the Arts District. There is a dedicated parking garage on 8th Street where customers get 90 minutes of free parking with validation at the kiosk in-store.

Moments before doors open at 9 am, there will be a brief ribbon cutting. Store Captain Locke Eldridge and Trader Joe’s Crew Members will be on hand to welcome customers to their new neighborhood store.

As a neighborhood grocery store, Trader Joe’s prides itself on hiring from the local community. The store hired new Crew Members from the local community and transferred in existing Crew Members from neighboring Trader Joe’s stores who live in the area.

In addition, through the company’s longstanding Neighborhood Shares Program, the new Washington (Brookland) Trader Joe’s will donate 100% of products that go unsold but remain fit to enjoy to a range of non-profit, community-based organizations, seven days a week.
