From the Capitol Riverfront BID:

“This is a traffic advisory from the Capitol Riverfront BID regarding a significant traffic impact expected in our neighborhood starting Monday, February 10th. We are sharing this information to help residents and businesses prepare and plan accordingly.

The Naval Support Activity Washington (NSAW) headquartered at the Washington Navy Yard is anticipating a substantial increase in personnel returning to in-person work on Monday.

NSAW estimates between 8,000 and 10,000 vehicles will be attempting to enter their gates as early as 5:00 AM. This represents a significant increase in traffic along M St SE and 11th St SE. While NSAW is implementing measures to mitigate congestion, backups are anticipated.

Please be aware that parking is limited to 4,473 spaces within the Washington Navy Yard. Once parking reaches capacity, vehicles will be redirected off the installation.

We understand this increased traffic may cause inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding. We are working closely with NSAW leadership to stay informed and share updates as needed. We encourage everyone to consider alternative transportation options on Monday morning if possible.”
