Some of these planters/barrels have been popping up around Brookland. Usually near schools.
“The Barrels” are at 14th and Taylor near Bunker Hill Elm School, we think to prevent phantom right-turn lanes and attempt to daylight the crosswalk. Note: this has been a major complaint of residents for years, the ANC passed a resolution asking for this, but no idea what happened after that. I don’t head this way anymore in the morning but my friends at BHES have said it was crazy last week with school starting. I assume some parents got fed up with kids almost getting hit in crosswalks.”
