From a press release:
“Friendship Hospital for Animals, Washington’s most trusted destination for comprehensive veterinary care, is poised to open an additional, 30,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility that will expand the service Friendship provides to an unprecedented, advanced new level of care.
The second Friendship Hospital for Animals facility is expected to open this November at 5025 Wisconsin Ave. NW, just a half-mile from Friendship’s main location at 4105 Brandywine Street, NW.
In addition to becoming the new location of Friendship’s 24-hour emergency services, dermatology, cardiology and critical care services, among other care, the 30,000-square-foot facility will allow Friendship to provide additional and expanded specialty services,
including radiation oncology, nephrology/urology, and a cutting-edge interventional operation suite – a fully integrated operating room equipped with advanced technology to perform minimally invasive procedures.
The original location will continue to offer primary care, rehab, and behavior services.
The new facility on Wisconsin Avenue was made possible by the partnership between Friendship Hospital for Animals and EVG Specialty Network, a group of leading specialty veterinary hospitals unified in their mission to elevate patient care through collaboration and innovation. Led by EVG Specialty Network president and chief executive officer Kieran Mara – who had a 25-year tenure at Friendship – the hospital serves more than 120,000 active patients annually, supports the National Zoo with consulting and facility use, and donates over $200,000 in services each year.
“We are so excited to expand Friendship’s contributions to our community – both here in DC and to the greater veterinary community,” says Mara. “This project has been several years in the making and really is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our staff, as well as the growing needs of our patients. We can’t wait to welcome clients into our new building and continue to provide exceptional, unparalleled comprehensive care.”
Since 1936, Friendship Hospital for Animals has been serving the Washington DC community with state-of-the-art primary, specialty, and 24-hour emergency veterinary care, thanks to a team of more than 80 veterinarians working collaboratively to provide the highest standards of veterinary care.”
