“I wonder what the historic preservation board has to say about this?”

6th and L Street, NW

“Dear PoPville,

This is the building at the corner of 6th and L. It is a federal style historic building built in the early 19th century, probably 1840’s or so. It has amazing exterior details.

There is a time when Douglas Development cared about historic preservation (Woodies Building etc.) That time seems to have passed and they want to knock this building – one of the older buildings in DC and perhaps the only one left of this importance in this neighborhood down.

It seems, in addition to this, that he has been letting this and adjacent buildings deteriorate, used to store his construction equipment, leaves it a mess, puts up truly offensive posters (across from a daycare) and basically lets it go to shit (yet it has for rent signs so he can get a write off on an unrentable property).

What says PoPville? What says the historic preservation community/board? I wonder what this building was once?

These signs were recently posted…”
