A Free Opera Concert is Coming to The Lincoln Memorial on June 1!

Outdoor concert season begins with a performance you won’t forget — a free opera show at the Lincoln Memorial!

On June 1 from 6-7:30 p.m., Opera Italiana will host ‘Opera For Your Soul: A Serenade At Sunset,’ an outdoor performance featuring opera’s greatest hits, sung by top performers. The concert will connect new listeners with the music, by bringing opera to a public place, free of charge.

“The mission of Opera Italiana is to bring opera to everyone,” said Maestro Alvise Casellati. “To make it accessible, to reach out to new audiences.”

Casellati will lead performances of opera’s most cherished arias in a relaxed performance beneath the sky. They will primarily perform renditions of Giacomo Puccini’s melodies to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his passing. Internationally acclaimed singers Ewa Plonka, Antonio Poli, and Anthony D. Anderson are guest stars in the show.

This is Opera Italiana’s third performance at the Lincoln Memorial. They host free opera performances in cities across the U.S. and Italy, so diverse audiences can experience opera. This performance will celebrate Italian National Day, which is on June 2.

Whether you’re a seasoned opera enthusiast or new to the genre, this event offers an unforgettable evening of beautiful music against the breathtaking National Mall at sunset. The emotional melodies will ignite your soul in the way only opera can.

“In opera, you find everything,” Casellati said. “You find human emotions and everyday emotions, and also the big pictures of who we are, and what we want, and where we should be. I thought it was about time to communicate opera differently, to go out of the theaters in the open air.”
