“Named after Jason Berry’s great grandfather, Sam, Beresovsky’s Deli brings DC a variety of beloved classics, such as The Reuben and Latkes, along with contemporary creations such as the DC Dip and The Flyer. Combined with a few nostalgic dishes from the old country, a variety of milk shakes and the famous Egg Cream, Beresovsky’s Deli invites you to experience the joy of gathering over delicious deli fare rooted in history.”
First came the great news about MIKEY & MEL’S Famous Deli coming to former Corner Bakery space downtown but that’s not all!! From an email:
“KNEAD Hospitality + Design: Beresovsky’s Deli to open next week 4/1!
A “not so average” deli opens in Navy Yard (1201 Half Street, SE) next week! Beresovsky’s blends classic deli favorites with a modern twist.
This very personal project for KNEAD Hospitality + Design co-founder Jason Berry and his partner, Michael Reginbogin, will be an homage to Jason’s heritage and their combined love for New York-style delis. Guests can expect a wide collection of “Sammys” (as an ode to Jason’s Great Grandfather, Samuel Beresovsky himself) where you can choose your own meat with the options of Beef Brisket, Corned Beef, Pastrami, or Smoked Turkey. Many of the sandwiches are named after Beresovsky family members and their personal favorites, for instance the Ruthie’s Rueben (Corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, Russian dressing, Marble Rye) and “London Eat Your Veggies” (Roasted eggplant, tomato, zucchini, mozzarella, pesto, grilled focaccia). To drink you can find boozy (or non boozy) milkshakes and spitzes, as well as classic sides like matzo ball soup, knish, and more. For larger parties and families, guests can order “The Whole Shebang,” for takeout, so they too can enjoy the tradition of spending time together over a shared meal.”
