Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of DC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy so that every abused and neglected child in the D.C. foster care or juvenile justice system has a trusted adult in their corner and the opportunity to thrive.
Our mission is carried out through:
- Recruitment
- Training
- And support of volunteer advocates (CASA volunteers)
Volunteers are matched one-on-one to serve individual youth in D.C. Each CASA volunteer forms a mentor-like relationship with their youth, engaging them in positive activities and assisting them with goal attainment. Based on the relationship formed, CASAs advocate for their youth’s best interests in Court.
