Folger Theatre’s Reading Room Festival Returns January 25-28!

Folger Theatre’s Reading Room Festival is back from January 25-28 at Folger Theater with new works inspired by and in response to the plays of William Shakespeare.

The 2024 Reading Room Festival features a weekend of conversations with artists, critics, and scholars who are actively interrogating and amplifying the possibilities of the human experience through Shakespeare’s lens. Join the Folger for rehearsals, screenings, readings of world-premiere plays, plus opportunities to gather and celebrate.

Highlights among the readings, rehearsals, and films include works by Austin Dean Ashford, Carmen Pelaez, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sarah Mantell, Devin E. Haqq, and Dr. John Ray Proctor III.

  • Festival passes are $35 and include open rehearsals, readings, screenings, and conversations.
  • All-access passes are $75 and include everything in the Festival pass, plus opening and closing parties.
  • Students get free admission to readings and conversations by arriving a half hour prior to the event start time with valid student ID, no registration required.
