From a press release:

“Award-winning lifestyle brand and creative agency VERSUS is set to launch a new transportive concept, Treehouse Rooftop Lounge (411 New York Ave, NE) on Friday, December 8. Perched five-stories above the Union Market Hotel that was once the Bolgiano Seed Company, Treehouse invites adults into an indoor/outdoor Tulum-inspired jungle sanctuary in the heart of DC’s Union Market District. “It’s poetic really, like nature reclaiming an industrial relic,” says hotel owner Brook Rose on the property’s transformation. “Like the original seeds from Bolgiano have blossomed into cascading foliage.”

Channeling Tulum’s vivid landscapes and culture, Treehouse boasts abundant greenery, a state-of-the-art sound system, and panoramic city views through a rainforest canopy. A multisensory journey follows pulsating Latin and World musical sets from local and international DJs. As the night unfolds, the lounge shifts gears to become an adult playground, glowing with house and electro beats. A separate afterhours Jungle Room offers plush lounge seating for bottle reservations and dancing around the DJ booth.

“As Union Market continues to thrive, we’ve known there’s a growing need for more late-night hospitality options,” says VERSUS CEO and Founder Vinoda Basnayake. “We’re excited to fulfill that demand in the neighborhood for DC residents and tourists alike.” The intimate, open-air rooftop space can accommodate 150 standing guests and the small bar offers seating for 12.

Treehouse stocks top-shelf spirits available by the bottle, straight, or in craft cocktails featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients. The cocktail menu emphasizes sustainability as they repurpose byproducts like beet purée scraps and corn husks. Signature drinks include a house margarita with tequila, sotol, and fermented corn syrup; a reinvented mojito with mint washed rum, green chili liqueur, and angostura amaro; and an old fashioned that uniquely blends American and Japanese influences with toasted rice syrup and root beer bitters.

Tropical sensibility extends to the internationally influenced small plates menu. House favorites include the ceviche tostada (seafood ceviche, avocado, mangos, red peppers, lime); General Tso’s cauliflower tacos (glazed cauliflower, sesame seeds, cabbage, chili lime dressing); and escabeche grilled chicken (cilantro rice, avocado, feta cheese, fire roasted poblanos). Shared bites are encouraged, echoing Tulum’s community table dining culture.

Known for their highly acclaimed nightlife concepts (including Ciel Social Club and pop-up takeovers of local landmarks such as Union Station, the Kennedy Center, and the Wharf by Morris American Bar and Heist), VERSUS tops off their impressive hospitality portfolio with Treehouse, now bringing the eclectic energy of Tulum’s tourism scene to the nation’s capital. Just as the Mexican cosmopolitan hub draws visitors from all over the world, Treehouse aims to be a trendsetting destination for hotel guests and nightlife patrons from across the District and beyond.

Treehouse will be open from 5pm to midnight during the week, extending to 2am on weekends. An adjoining fresh market cafe serving brunch and lunch is slated to launch in 2024.

We’re about a month out from summer. That means you’ve still got time for spring cleaning!

Lexi Grant, an operations manager at Well-Paid Maids, shared her go-to spring cleaning tips with WTOP News. Step one? Declutter. Get rid of items you don’t use, find space for items that need a home and organize those areas.

Then, it’s time to dust. Lexi starts with high-touch surface areas (think: refrigerator, dishwasher, counters, microwave). One area she sees often neglected is the bedroom — and it makes sense. Heavy furniture is difficult to move around, but it’s important to really get in there so dust doesn’t affect your sleep.
