Explore #dctheatre During Theatre Week!

Theatre Week, a 3-week long celebration of the #dctheatre season is back this year: September 21 to October 8!

Theatre Week offers an opportunity to explore the vibrant and diverse theatre scene in the Washington, D.C.-area with over 25 spectacular shows at $20, $40, and $60, a free Kickoff Fest, and other fun events. Tickets are now on sale at theatreweek.org

“In the nation’s capital, where history and creativity converge, our professional theatre scene stands as a dynamic testament to the power of live theatre,” said Amy Austin, Theatre Washington President and CEO. “We are excited to raise the curtain and invite people across the D.C. Metro area and beyond to see a show (or five!), and participate in the many immersive experiences tailored to engage new and seasoned theatre-goers alike.”

This year’s celebration goes beyond the stage, starting with the Theatre Week Kickoff Fest on Saturday, September 23 from 1-5 p.m. at Arena Stage (1101 6th St SW). This interactive event, free with registration through official ticketing partner TodayTix, will feature performances, workshops, conversations, free samples of locally-made food and drinks, giveaways, and more fun from over 40 D.C.-area theatres and dozens of theatre-makers.

Other events include: Rolling on the River Concert, Raising the Curtain on Women in #DCTheatre Walking Tour, #DCTheatre Bike Ride, #DCTheatre Season Preview, and A Stage of Their Own: A Tribute to DC’s Early Black Women Performers and Playwrights.

More information on Theatre Week shows, events, and registration is available at theatreweek.org.

At Generation Hope, we’re dedicated to supporting teen parents in college as they work toward earning their degrees. We are in need of caring child care volunteers for upcoming events on Saturday, October 21st (in Washington, DC), and Saturday, November 4th (in Arlington, VA). Join our growing volunteer community and support us at an event this fall!

At all of our events, we provide free onsite child care for the children of the teen parents we serve, creating a nurturing environment for the kiddos while their parents learn valuable life skills and build community.
