Update: “Arrest Made in in an Assault With Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse Offense”

Update around 6pm Saturday: “He was arrested a little bit ago (at my apartment building)”

A reader reports Saturday morning: “they’ve identified the suspect and his address in Adams Morgan. There was a standoff all night last night as he was in the house. this morning the police entered the residence to arrest him. However, he had escaped out the back earlier. He is still at large.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit announce an arrest has been made in an Assault With Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse that occurred on Thursday, June 15, 2023, in the 1800 block of Clydesdale Place, Northwest.

approximately 1:30 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect assaulted the victim and threatened the victim in an attempt to engage in an unwanted sexual act. The victim fled the scene.

On Saturday, June 17, 2023, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 43 year-old Arnold Young of Northwest DC was arrested and charged with Assault With Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in an Assault With Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse that occurred on Thursday, June 15, 2023, in the 1800 block of Clydesdale Place, Northwest.

At approximately 1:30 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect assaulted the victim and threatened the victim in an attempt to engage in an unwanted sexual act. The victim fled the scene.

Anyone who can identify this suspect or has any information about this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. Crime Solvers of Washington, DC currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
