Van Leeuwen Opening in Georgetown Thursday with “$1 Scoops, Baked & Wired Collab, & More” (Adams Morgan next in “coming weeks”)

3245 Prospect St, NW (next to coming Blank Street Coffee)

From a press release:

“Van Leeuwen, the Brooklyn-born brand known for its made-from-scratch dairy and vegan ice creams, is thrilled to announce that its second D.C. location––located in the heart of Georgetown at 3245 Prospect St NW––will open on Thursday, May 11 at noon.

“We’re so grateful for the warm welcome we received from Washingtonians when we opened our Union Market scoop shop earlier this year, and we’re thrilled to now be opening in yet another one of D.C.’s most iconic and well-known neighborhoods.” says co-founder Ben Van Leeuwen.

For the debut of its Georgetown outpost, the brand has partnered with beloved neighborhood bakery Baked & Wired to create a limited edition ice cream flavor––Dirty Chai Cupcake–– exclusive to D.C. scoop shops.

“The flavors in our Dirty Chai Cupcake and our specialty flavor with Van Leeuwen Ice Cream embody that spicy chai flavor we all know and love,” said Tessa Velazquez, Co-Owner of Baked & Wired. “You’ll taste notes of black pepper, cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon from our chai cake, along with a delicious espresso infused buttercream swirled throughout. We couldn’t be more excited to bring our delicious cupcakes to new heights with Van Leeuwen.”

In addition to the Dirty Chai Cupcake Ice Cream flavor, the Georgetown store will feature more than 30 of the brand’s signature flavors––including Honeycomb, Pistachio (made with pistachios sourced from Mount Etna in Sicily), Marionberry Cheesecake (made with vine-ripened berries from Oregon farm partner Stahlbush Island Farms), and Earl Grey Tea (made with Rishi Tea)––along with custom sundaes, handmade ice cream sandwiches, root beer floats, milkshakes and pints to-go. An extensive selection of Van Leeuwen’s famed vegan flavors, such as Churros & Fudge and Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb, will also be available.

To mark the opening, Van Leeuwen Georgetown will be offering $1 scoops between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 11. Additionally, the first 100 customers in line will receive free, limited-edition Van Leeuwen DC totes.

Stay tuned, as Van Leeuwen will be opening their third D.C. location in the iconic Adams Morgan neighborhood at 2421 18th St. NW in the coming weeks.

Van Leeuwen Georgetown is located at 3245 Prospect St NW and is open daily at the following hours:
Sunday – Thursday 11 a.m. – 12 a.m. Friday & Saturday 11 a.m. – 1 a.m.

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
