8 Reasons People Don’t Get Their Homes Professionally Cleaned (and Why They’re Wrong)

If you haven’t treated yourself to a professional home cleaning yet, we’re sure you’ve got a good reason… right?

Here at Well-Paid Maids, we’ve heard them all. And while we absolutely respect your opinions, we’re here to tell you why they’re wrong.

We’re only joking, but we do believe everyone deserves to get their home professionally cleaned, so let us ease some of your worries.

The reason: “Cleaners aren’t treated fairly.”

The reality: This is a valid concern with some cleaning companies, but at Well-Paid Maids, our cleaners are W-2 employees. We pay cleaners a starting wage of at least $23 an hour, and we offer benefits, including insurance, 24 paid days off per year, 100% employer-paid commuting costs and more.

The reason: “My house is a disaster — I’m too embarrassed.”

The reality: We’re all human. We’ve been there. There’s nothing you should be embarrassed about. If your house was sparkling clean, we wouldn’t have our jobs!

The reason: “It’s fine. I should be able to handle it.”

The reality: We totally get it. You might feel guilty hiring someone to help you out. After all, your parents never did. But here’s what we forget: We’re more busy now than ever, and we can all use a little help.

The reason: “I work from home.”

The reality: With Well-Paid Maids, you don’t have to leave your home when we come to clean. In fact, we often say Well-Paid Maids is the best cleaning company for remote workers.

You can book an appointment for an exact time — not an hours-long estimated window. We send one person, not an entire team, and we can easily work around your needs. If you don’t want your home office cleaned, all good! If you have a meeting at noon, we can move to the other end of the house.

The reason: “I have pets.”

The reality: Great! We love pets and pet owners! We don’t charge extra for homes with pets. If you have any specific pet-related directions for your cleaner, just drop a note during the booking process.

The reason: “I can’t handle the harsh chemicals.”

The reality: Good news for you, all our cleaning products are rated low and lowest concern by the Environmental Working Group. That means no harsh chemicals. One of our Yelp reviewers said their home smelled like a day spa after their cleaning!

The reason: “I don’t need a regular cleaning.”

The reality: With Well-Paid Maids, there’s no commitment. You can book a one-time cleaning to give us a try. If you just want a deep seasonal clean, totally fine! The frequency is up to you.

The reason: “It’s too expensive.”

The reality: Consider the amount of time you dedicate to cleaning your home each week. This takes away time from family and friends, work, and more. By getting your home professionally cleaned, you get those hours back.

If you’re wondering how much it costs to get your home cleaned with Well-Paid Maids, book a cleaning online. Before you submit your request, you’ll see the cost of your visit based on the service size.

We hope to see you soon!

We’re about a month out from summer. That means you’ve still got time for spring cleaning!

Lexi Grant, an operations manager at Well-Paid Maids, shared her go-to spring cleaning tips with WTOP News. Step one? Declutter. Get rid of items you don’t use, find space for items that need a home and organize those areas.

Then, it’s time to dust. Lexi starts with high-touch surface areas (think: refrigerator, dishwasher, counters, microwave). One area she sees often neglected is the bedroom — and it makes sense. Heavy furniture is difficult to move around, but it’s important to really get in there so dust doesn’t affect your sleep.
