Well-Paid Maids has raised its starting wage — again! — to $23 an hour.
The District’s only living-wage cleaning company was already paying employees $22 an hour — well over the hourly mean wage of $15.44 for cleaners and housekeepers in the DMV area, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
But between inflation and the increasing cost of living, founder Aaron Seyedian knew it was time for another increase.
When Aaron launched Well-Paid Maids in 2017, he vowed to be different from other cleaning companies. At the time, he paid employees a starting wage of $16 an hour. Through the years, he’s increased the minimum based on the standards calculated by Living Wage For US.
“We’ve raised our starting wage $7 in 6 years to make sure our staff can continue to earn what they need,” he said.
By booking a cleaning with Well-Paid Maids, you’re supporting a company dedicated to changing the standards in traditionally low-wage industries.
