Phil Kline’s outdoor holiday classic UNSILENT NIGHT — the original winter soundwalk celebrates its 30th anniversary —

Wednesday, December 21 at 7:30 pm

Kline’s luminous 45-minute 4-track soundscape is performed by the public on portable speakers, phones & boom boxes carried through city streets and parks.

The magic begins when the crowd hits PLAY simultaneously, collectively launching four streams of shimmering electronic bell-tones into the night, as the “orchestra” sets off joyously on foot.

Unsilent Night blends modern technology with centuries-old processional music traditions to create a unique composition. The DC event has attracted a growing crowd of participants each year and 2022 is expected to be the biggest soundwalk yet, enveloping the Petworth neighborhood in a nebula of phosphorescent sound.
