“DC’s Wear Orange event Saturday afternoon at Oxon Run Park in SE”

“Dear PoPville,

Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day, which kicks off Wear Orange Weekend. We wear the color orange to honor victims and survivors of gun violence, a tradition begun by the loved ones of Hadiya Pendleton, who was killed at a Chicago playground in 2013.

Moms Demand Action DC and our partner organizations, NAARC DC and the Friends of Oxon Run, invite people of all ages to enjoy a beautiful Saturday afternoon in the park.

There will be food, crafts, gardening, yoga, and the opportunity to honor survivors of gun violence and meet good folks working on gun violence prevention. You can learn more about Wear Orange here.”
