A Q&A with Lexi Grant, Well-Paid Maids’ New Operations Manager

You’ve already met Lexi Grant. We interviewed her in March about her role at Well-Paid Maids.

She raved about her job — the fair pay, the work-life balance and the benefits.

“Working at Well-Paid Maids has felt like a breath of fresh air,” she said.

Lexi was recently promoted to an operations manager. She starts this week and will soon be responding to your emails and answering your calls. (If you chat with her, tell her you saw her on PoPville!)

We wanted to catch up with Lexi to learn more about her time at Well-Paid Maids.

Question: You joined Well-Paid Maids last June and have since been promoted twice — from cleaner to trainer to manager. Tell us more about your growth at the company.

Lexi: I started with Well-Paid Maids as a junior cleaner. This is just an entry-level role anyone can do! It’s all about learning more about yourself as a cleaner and what clients like.

After gaining a good reputation as a cleaner, I was able to move into the role of training our new employees to make the same good impressions. I really enjoy the training process. I worked hard to ensure new employees felt comfortable cleaning on their own.

I am also blessed to be with a company that hires within. When the new manager position opened up, I was able to get an interview thanks to my prior management experience at Chipotle.

Question: How did you feel when you were promoted to manager?

Lexi: I am so excited about the promotion. I already have my first day of work outfit picked out like it’s my first day of school. It’s so silly.

When I found out I was offered the promotion, I called my mom. I just wanted to hear her opinion since I’ve never had an office job. My past experience in management included doing the physical labor as well as the paperwork, so I wanted to ensure it’s the right move for me and my family.

After deciding to take the position, my boyfriend took me and our son to get crab legs to celebrate!

Question: Tell us more about your new responsibilities. What are you most excited about?

Lexi: My new responsibilities will include supporting our cleaners out in the field and doing a lot of office work, like sending emails, making phone calls, setting up supplies for our new hires, and ensuring we have enough employees to accommodate our clients.

I am really looking forward to being a support system for our cleaners. I know the jobs can be hard sometimes, so I’m excited to be in a role where I’m able to help others.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
