Missed Connection — Puppy Rescue on Capitol Hill

Update: “I’m not the cute guy from the bike, but I found this puppy. She was hiding under a truck on C street. I had my dog with me, but I put her on the pole next to me. I had to get fully under the truck to get to the puppy. Fortunately a very helpful woman stopped who had an extra leash with her. We were able to leash the dog. I then called the number on the tag, and the owner answered immediately. Apparently she’s been looking for her pup for a long time. They were reunited and the pup is safe at home!”

“Dear PoPville,

Tuesday morning on my very mundane, typically uneventful walk to work on C street NE in Capitol Hill, a puppy on the lose darted in front of me. Coming down the sidewalk shortly after the pup was a man on a bike, who then noticed the lost dog, took off after it, and enlisted the police officer standing by to help him in the chase.

I was late to a meeting, so I had to lay aside my eagerness to take off running and join the growing search and rescue team. But the question loomed all day–who was the mysterious heroic man on the bike?!

There aren’t many people in DC willing to divert away from their job and over-committed schedule to help someone else, so might as well take my chances to find them when I see them… right?

If nothing else, I would sleep a lot better this week if I could just hear that the little lost pup was found.”

Ed. Note: If this is you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, many have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
