Your Afternoon Animal Fix – AdoPtville

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share for the regular fix please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. AdoPtville is run by a volunteer who compiles these pets weekly from local shelters.

Red’s tail never stops wagging! He clearly wants to please and is so happy to be with a family. Red loves to hang out with humans, and enjoys chilling on the couch with the 4-year-old and 7-year-old children in his foster home. He likes snuggling with them and seeks them out for cuddles and pets. Red is learning house manners — he nabs the occasional stuffie or shoe and gets into some counter-surfing mischief — but he reacts well when he’s corrected and is quickly learning. This good looking fellow is mostly retired from hunting, with one exception: looking for a forever home! Adopt Red!

Gravy is a kitty in need of some belly scratches! In addition to the belly business, there’s a lot more to love about Gravy. She’s a curious kitty who would surely make an adventure out of exploring your home and finding the comfiest sleeping spots (as long as there aren’t *too* many loud noises). Gravy is also playful, and she respectfully requests that you bring your best toy-tossing and ribbon-wiggling skills to playtime. And as a slightly older and wiser girl, Gravy already has great manners when it comes to the litter box and the scratching post. After she’s finished with the day’s activities (aka showing that ribbon who’s boss), Gravy would love to snuggle on your lap. She particularly enjoys being brushed and will communicate her thanks with a hearty purr. Adopt Gravy!

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
