Hosted by local nonprofit Game Genius, Play Week is a spring event series that celebrates how play and games can make a difference in the Washington, D.C. area.
From March 20-26, join any of the 4 free virtual sessions. This year’s Play Week theme is literacy:
Storytelling Challenge — March 20 at 1-4 p.m. ET
Interested in the intersection of storytelling and games? Help draft the story for a city-wide treasure hunt, coming in fall 2022! You can show up any time in this 3-hour block for a challenge prompt, and must submit your response by Monday at midnight.
Game Night — March 22 at 6-7 p.m. ET
Looking for some mid-week fun? Test your game knowledge and skills in our unique virtual challenges! Win prizes like free tickets and tabletop games.
Nonprofit Info Session — March 24 at 3-4 p.m. ET
Are you a literacy nonprofit leader, staff member or advocate? Learn about how Game Genius builds awareness for local organizations through its events.
Puzzle Challenge — March 26 at 1-4 p.m. ET
Interested in place-making and creating puzzles? Help craft clever games around the story submissions from March 20! You can show up any time in this 3-hour block for a challenge prompt, and must submit your response by Sunday at midnight. The best ideas will be featured in the fall District Hunt.
All creative minds and curious souls are welcome. No prior experience is required to participate, and you can attend by yourself or as a group.
