Your Afternoon Animal Fix – AdoPtville

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share for the regular fix please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. AdoPtville is run by a volunteer who compiles these pets weekly from local shelters.

Io is a dapper 14 y/o, 22 lb DSH looking for a loving home to retire to. Io lost the only home he has ever known when his elderly owner became too ill to take care of him. Despite moving from Puerto Rico to DC in his golden years, six weeks into life in his foster home and he’s all over the house, watches tv next to his foster mom, and sleeps on the bed next to his foster mom’s head every night. This sweet senior loves getting belly rubs and gives little hand bubbles and kisses. As you can tell from his bow tie, he is quite the distinguished gentleman! Io has lots of opinions and he chatters throughout the day talking to himself, but is not overly loud.

Scooby is full of energy and curiosity, and he LOVES meeting new friends, doggie and human alike! This spunky boy is known for stealing hearts and being an excellent cuddle buddy. Scooby is full of enthusiasm and energy, and he is especially a fan of playing with the neighborhood dogs! Aside from playing with his humans or other dogs, Scooby’s favorite part of the day is nap time , and he will never run out of affection and cuddles. Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
