Thanks to Phil for sending: “Bread Alley, the alley bakery (behind St. Anselm) where you’ll be able to buy Le Diplomate breads starting Monday per @jsidman”
Sidman writes in Washingtonian yesterday:
“The tiny 100-square-foot “microshop” has no seating. Windows will give customers a glimpse of the larger production area in the back.”
From Bread Alley’s Instagram:
“Opening Labor Day, 9.6.21 at 9AM
Living-leavened breads in the Morse Street alley between 4th + 5th Streets, NE.
Celebrate Labor Day with the freshly baked bread you’ve grown to love at Le Diplomate now {finally!} available for purchase at Bread Alley, opening this Monday at 9am.
As our bakers grow into the new space, we plan to offer additional selections such as viennoiserie, pastries, and additional specialty breads on a rotating basis.
Our 100 sq. ft. shop will feature shelves of signature breads including crusty French baguettes, multigrain levain boules, and cranberry walnut boules.
The smell of freshly baked bread will take over our block on Monday, September 6th, 2021 at 9am.
Bread Alley. A microshop showcasing the magical marriage of heirloom whole wheat flour, a living leavain starter, water, and a selective list of exceptional ingredients.
Open seven days a week from 9am-5pm or until sold out.”
