“Baker’s Daughter Expands to Chinatown”

675 I Street, NW

From a press release:

“Today, chef Matt Baker announces that his Baker’s Daughter café and market will expand with a second location to open in Washington, D.C.’s Chinatown neighborhood later this winter. The all-day storefront offering prepared foods, coffee, pastries, and weekly meal kits will open at 675 I Street NW. Though primarily focused on carryout and delivery, the 600-square-foot space will offer a handful of patio seats in warm weather months.

“The opening of Baker’s Daughter in Ivy City has been a real success,” Baker said, “and we think this is the kind of concept that will translate well to different neighborhoods. Dining habits are changing, and there is a real desire for approachable, high quality, everyday carry-outs like Baker’s Daughter.”

The Chinatown location will feature a pared-down menu with a greater focus on grab-and-go dining, with a full cooler case of ready-to-eat sandwiches, salads, and soups. Coffee, espresso drinks, and fresh-pressed juices will be emphasized, and pastry chef Aisha Momaney will expand the selection of house-made pastries and baked treats, including single-serving custards and cakes available in the café counter coolers.

After opening in summer 2020, the original Baker’s Daughter became a holiday go-to, offering customizable take-home feasts, seasonal treats, and even virtual cooking classes. The new location will join this tradition, becoming a downtown pick-up hub for chef Matt Baker’s thoughtful holiday packages, which will include family spreads for Passover and Easter, as well as grill boxes for Independence Day.”
