Kasella: A Better Way to Prevent Package Theft

Dear PoPville readers,

We all know the pain and frustration of dealing with a missing package. According to an article last year by WAMU, there were 2,141 package thefts in the District in 2019. This represents a 50% increase since 2015 despite total theft incidents declining -0.2% during the same period.

Kasella is a new service that enables District residents living in high-theft neighborhoods to rent or own a secure package locker starting at $12 per month. Unlike an Amazon Locker, PO Box or doorbell camera, Kasella is the only package theft solution in the District that offers a high degree of security and convenience at a low cost.

The Kasella package locker is constructed out of a lightweight and durable composite material and it features a self-locking lid, making it easy to use for both you and the delivery driver. We will pick up and deliver the locker for free and you can secure it to your property with a chain, cable or U-lock. For those of you who frequently receive multiple deliveries in one day, a second locker can be added to your plan at a discounted rate.

Most thefts are crimes of opportunity which we all can play a role in preventing. I know from experience. My car was broken into in broad daylight on lower Georgia Avenue last year. Fortunately, my keyboard, which was prominently displayed in the backseat, was not stolen. I guess that’s what I get for playing in an ’80s cover band.

To learn more about how you can get packages delivered securely to your home visit kasella.co or check us out on Facebook and Instagram.

Best,

Ben Feinsilver

This year’s games will be Saturday, April 27th, 1 PM to 4 PM at SPIN DC. It’ll be a chaotic afternoon of ping-pong, costumes, terrible Battlestar Galactica puns, and good cheer. We’d love to have you join us!
