Is Sustainability Important When Remodeling Your Home?

Hi PoPville readers! I’m Kristen Menichelli (she/her), and I’m a kitchen and bath designer.

My company, Green House Designs, was started to fulfill a need within the interior design world — providing homeowners with healthy design that’s sustainably and responsibly sourced.

Seven years ago, I transitioned from a career in theatrical design to home remodeling. As I worked with clients, I began to think more about the environmental and human impact of commonly used building materials. From the working conditions in granite mines to the sustainability of wood flooring options, the choices we make can have a major impact.

That’s why I work with my clients to give them the full picture, empowering them to make informed decisions.

Our homes are more important than ever, especially while we stay home to #flattenthecurve. My goal as a designer is to help clients create spaces that are beautiful, welcoming, and functional. This includes helping clients customize their homes to address specific needs, ranging from mobility issues to allergies.

I work to achieve this not only through design, but through the selection of appropriate materials. I myself suffer from chemical sensitivities and asthma, so I know first-hand the importance of indoor air quality. I can help provide alternative materials to reduce harmful chemicals commonly found in indoor furnishings.

I know the home remodeling process can be a stressful one. That’s where I come in as a designer, project manager and advocate. I offer a range of services, from providing just the design for a DIY build, to full project management with a trusted contractor. I even offer an online-only “e-design” option for when all you need is some inspiration and a shopping list.

If you’re ready for a healthy new space, fill out my questionnaire!

We’ll start with a complimentary video consultation to learn about the space, your goals and your needs. I’d love to get to know you and your family!

Thanks!
Kristen Menichelli, Green House Designs

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
