Cool Curiosity on Adams Morgan Building – Anyone Know the History?

Thanks to John for sending: ” A few months ago I noticed, after 15 years in the hood, Greek letters on the top of this gorgeous building. My Greek former high school football coach was nice enough to translate from the photos I took this evening.

John, the first part is someone’s name:

Anastasios Hiotis. The writing says, “Anastasios Hiotis ask for the love.”
This makes me all the more curious about this building.”

1838 Columbia Road, NW

Anyone happen to know the story?
