Commuters who share their daily rides with car or vanpools at least twice a week sometimes worry about how they’ll get home if the day’s driver suddenly can’t drive.
The car breaks down, the driver has to work overtime, or they leave early because of an illness — their own or a family member — are all very likely scenarios facing commuters.
But Commuter Connections “Guaranteed Ride Home Program” takes the worry out of the equation by offering up to four free rides a year when an unexpected emergency arises. The idea behind the concept is to encourage more ridesharing to help alleviate traffic congestion, environmental damage and other traffic-related impacts by assuring a free ride home.
The same offer is made to those who use other regional commuter travel options like transit or bicycling. Staying late for unscheduled overtime? No worries, you still have a ride home.
Knowing there is a guaranteed ride home — between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. weekdays — allows commuters to use transit and carpools with peace of mind. There is no cost or commitment to join or renew each year.
