Tickets are on sale now for the second annual Eastern Market Main Street event Constitutional (n)! This year’s theme is “Votes for Women” and takes place on Saturday, October 19, from 2-5 p.m. at Eastern Market on Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.
This one-of-kind Capitol Hill event is designed to highlight women in civic life during the 100 years since the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, the amendment that prohibits the federal government from denying the right to vote on the basis of sex.
In addition to themed beverages provided by local restaurants and drinkeries, the three-hour event will be highlighted with a self-guided walking tour of Capitol Hill that takes visitors to a number of locations important to the history of women in civic life.
The nonprofit Eastern Market Main Street is dedicated to fostering “a collaborative, connected and competitive business community” in the historic Capitol Hill neighborhood. Events such as the annual Constitutional (n) are intended to engage longtime residents, newcomers and visitors to the area with fun and creative activities.
Information about tickets for October 19’s Constitutional (n): Votes for Women can be found at the EMMS website.
