Mark It. This Year’s DC State Fair will take place September, 8, 2019!

From an email:

“This year is the TENTH (!) annual DC State Fair will take place September, 8, 2019 at Gateway DC, the first Fair across the river and in Ward 8. The site is a short walk from the Congress Heights metro (green line) and free Circulator shuttles will take attendees back and forth between the metro and Fair site all day.

Like fairs across the country, the DC State Fair celebrates all things homegrown – the agricultural, culinary, and artistic talents of the people who live and work in the District. The DC State Fair is a FREE event that hosts contests, as well as local entertainment and food, hands-on educational workshops, children’s activities, beer garden hosted by Wunder Garten, and even a pet parade.

Contests: The Fair hosts over 40+ contests (https://dcstatefair.org/contests/) that show off the many talents of DC residents – with categories spanning best pie, jam, mumbo sauce, chili, beer, wine, pickle, fiber art, tomato, and so much more. New categories this year include cake, pasta sauce, hot sauce, and photography. Adults AND kids may compete! Sign up online (forms close the week before the Fair) and the contests are judged one site the day before the Fair.

Hope to see friends, families, and furry ones at the Fair!
