“Dear PoPville,

During the heatwave the surface temp of the sidewalk/roads was reaching 140+. I’m really really bummed a Chinese elm was cut down at the corner of Columbia and 18th a few days ago. Adams Morgan is v dense w pedestrian foot traffic and it provided a ton of shade for bus riders, pedestrians waiting to use the cross walk and also a nice carbon sink. Any ideas why it was cut down and not trimmed?”
