“Last week, tragedy struck the McCrae family, long-time Brookland residents, whose home on the 2700 block of 12th St. NE burned last Wednesday night.
Many will remember the colorful Redskins-themed facade, and some in the community reminisced to me about watching football games with Norman. The elder Mr. McCrae, fortunately, had moved into a retirement home some time before the fire occurred. His son, Stephon, was living there but fortunately was not injured in the fire. Unfortunately, Stephon lost his personal belongings, and of course, the McCrae family lost their home.
