Last Night on New York Ave and on North Cap

Emma sends the photo above from 8:15pm Wednesday Night: “Wendy’s intersection pile up. Of last night’s pile up. I counted 7 cars — minimum– and you can imagine the traffic pile-up behind this mess. People were losing their minds.”

DC Traffic Police reported:

“Multi-Vehicle Collision on New York Ave btw First St and Florida Ave NE; All-Travel Lanes SHUT DOWN in both directions – Find an alternate route
MPD and DCFEMS on the scene // Crane 3, 5 are en route”

“Update – DPW is in the process of clean-up the debris/fuel spill Duration: Estimated 30 minutes All damaged vehicles consolidated to both right curb lanes along New York Ave”

From DC Fire and EMS:

“Crash with multiple injuries 1st St and NY Ave NE. 6 vehicles involved. #DCsBravest transporting 6 Pts, 2 of whom have potentially serious injuries.”

From MPD at 10:54pm:

“Earlier today 5D officers responded to a call for a stabbing at 1501 North Capitol St NE. Responding units located an adult male suffering from a stab wound to the lower right abdomen. V1 was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. This case is currently being investigated by Fifth District Detectives. Anyone with information regarding this offense are urged to contact MPD at 202-727-9099 or text us at 50411.”
