Your Afternoon Animal Fix – AdoPtville

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share for the regular fix please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. AdoPtville is run by two volunteers who compile these pets weekly from local shelters.

Is it a little Dusty in here? It should be! Dusty is a gorgeous 7-year-old tabby who was originally from a shelter in West Virginia. She was adopted out, but recently her family moved and couldn’t take her along, so she’s in need of a new roommate situation, if you know what we mean. Like most of us, Dusty has indulged a little too much in holiday goodies, so she’s looking for someone to assist her in her goal of slimming down, including feeding her some prescription food to help her keep her girlish figure! This sweet pea is spayed, current on vaccinations, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and has been micro chipped. If you are interested in adopting Dusty or finding out more about her, please email [email protected]

Pssttt – hey, you guys? I have a little secret…I, Journey the Dog, am kind of a holiday miracle! A Good Samaritan found me a few months back in the middle of a busy South Carolina highway. I was sick, emaciated, and just plain terrified, but some time with a loving foster home, lots of vet visits, and some genuine TLC have turned me into the gorgeous creature you see before you. Now I’m ready to find my fur-ever home, and make somebody’s life even more snuggly! I do have diabetes and require twice-daily insulin injections, but I handle those like a pro…I do also have some vision impairment, but it just makes me a better listener! Despite all that I’ve been through, I just love all the people and pups with whom I interact – you might say I’m a social butterfly. I am only 3 years old, so have a lot of years left to live the happy life I deserve! I hope to find my special someone here in DC – could it be your time for a miracle? If so, reach out to my friend, [email protected]. You can also read more about my story here.

Maco still has hope that he will find a forever home in time for the holidays, perhaps even with his own stocking hung by the fireplace, full of his first gifts of toys and treats! Maco is a friendly and affectionate pup who gets along with everyone: kids, other dogs, and even cats! At just about a year old, he still has lots of energy but is calm and cuddly in the home once he has had plenty of exercise. We might go as far to say that he thinks he’s a lap dog!! He’d make a great dog for an active family, a runner, or someone dedicated to daily dog park trips. Maco is a Pointer mix weighing in at about 40 lbs. Can you help Maco’s holiday wish come true and give him a forever home? You can learn more about him and submit an application here.

Hey, PoPvillers! Were you one of the awesome folks who adopted a pet you saw on AdoPtville? If so, we’d like to get an update! Please email [email protected] to be included in a year-end catch-up post! Thanks.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
