Thai Xing on 9th street ordered closed by the Health Department

Thanks to Matt for sending: “Yikes! Closure at Thai Xing. Hopefully they open again soon.” Can anyone find the health report? I saw some disturbing video on a Facebook post and I think, if you saw it, you’d agree this was a good thing while the restaurant is treated. These are great people and so many restaurants have these issues – also hoping they are able to reopen again soon!

I wonder how much this has to do with construction at the burnt-out space that Climax occupies next door. If the health violation is for rodents, it’s probably because they are scurrying to a new hiding spot.

Spill the beans on the gross FB video!

I saw on the news that the closure is due to rodents and the owner did mention he thought construction had to do with this increase. He was super transparent and let the news cameras in to film conditions in the restaurant, and said he agreed and found conditions disturbing and is trying to find a solution to the problem ASAP.

Coworker messaged me about this a couple of days ago saying something about them climbing the curtains. *shrug*

ugh… construction will certainly do that… The summer a building near mine was being gutted and renovated, I caught 12 mice in my (sixth floor) apartment. (It probably didn’t help that there was a serious hoarder living two floors below me)…

I hate construction. Metro meant a TON of rats on the move in the alley. Then the Safeway meant even more. A lot of work to keep them out of the house!

Oh wow, this brings back memories of the video on one of the local TV stations of rats scurrying around in Mixtec.

Their Florida Ave location had a cat on the seat next to me last time we visited. Scared the crap out of me when it jumped down since I had been sitting there for a good 5 minutes prior

Fox news showed the video of a (baby) rat on the front window curtain.

I have only known about the place for about a year, but I will be going back when they open. They invited Fox into their restaurant and kitchen (while closed) to show it was clean. The food is amazing and the atmosphere not fancy but … clean at least.

I’m not worried about it other than to worry about the impact on them. The food has always been amazing.
