PEPE Spanish Sandwiches by Jose Andres coming to Penn Quarter!?!!

Looks like the Andresification of Penn Quarter continues full steam ahead with PEPE Spanish Sandwiches. A reader reports the sign is “facing the Navy Memorial, in the building that 701 restaurant is in, where the native foods place was.”

Ed. Note: We judged Andres’ PEPE Food Truck here. Updates if it’s also becoming a brick and mortar. Stay tuned.

701 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

I loved the Pepe food truck the couple times I had it, so this is a welcome addition!

Yeah that one sandwich they did with the jamon iberico was legit!

        Wait, they had Iberican ham?

        • MadMax

They definitely did during their first operational phase, I don’t know if they still do. Here’s my original notes on the contents…
Pepito de Iberico: seared Iberico pork and Serrano ham, roasted green peppers, caramelized onions, aioli
It was about $20 for a sandwich, IIRC, but it was damn good.

The space is now labeled ThinkFoodLab, so I think Pepe is a pop up as the first concept in there and to test the space until Andres’ ThinkFoodGroup have something new they want to test out.

This is so awesome, these sandwitches are epic. I wish they would roll the truck out still at Nats Park

I can’t think of anything other than the Pepe meme when I see this name now :(
