Thanks to a reader for sending from Publishers Weekly:

“Washington, D.C.-based indie Politics and Prose Bookstore has announced plans to open a second location at Union Market, a food and artisan hub located in the capital’s northeast district. The store is set to open this fall in an area next to the market’s existing indoor hall.”

Oh great – teach these millenials how to read why don’t ya

They’re pulling out of the Busboys & Poets locations–have already done this in Brookland, will do this soon at U Street. Busboys’ owner plans to open a bookstore in all or part of Mulebone (depends on the informant).

That’s a bummer. The only bookstore in my part of town (Takoma) is the P&P at B&P.

Oh, I’m sorry to hear that! The P&P outpost at Busboys on U is the only bookstore in the area (as far as I am aware), and I love stopping in. I hope that Shallal does put in a full-sizes bookstore where Mulebone is – I see way more people using it as co-working space than as a restaurant.

Oh man, really? I’ve loved having them at the Busboys at 5th/K.

I never saw anyone actually buying books at the U Street B&P location. The owner of B&P has no bookstore experience.

I wonder which building “near” Union Market it will be going? None of the existing spaces look ready.

My money’s on the corner right next to the UM building (NW corner of Neal and 5th). Lots of construction going on there, and I think it’d be done in time.

Definitely NOT that space. It’s owned by a non-profit turning it into their HQ. Edens just started gutting the warehouses in the South half of 5th Street block between Neal & Morse. It’s probably going in one of those spots.

        Good to know! Thanks!
