Thanks to all who emailed the good news! Nick writes:

Sylvan Bakery opened this morning! Their selection looked great and seem to have some pretty promising savory breakfast items. Also, they’re open at 7:00 am for my fellow Bloomingdale residents who leave for work before 8. Wishing them the best of luck.

I only got the pastry/bagel case (photo above) there’s another case with sweets and a wall of bread…”

Hooray! Anyone know how late they’ll be open in the afternoon/evening? I’d love to stop by and grab some bread today or tomorrow after work.

Of I remember correctly, they open at 7am and close 8pm. Sundays the open a bit later.

Sad. What happened to Grassroots Bakery?

SO excited for the bread! Always thought that was a huge gap at Grassroots…

Yay! Were there bagels / bagel sandwiches?

  • DF

Sorry, gonna be that guy and say all this stuff looks terribly amateur. Maybe it tastes alright though?

Yep. Have to agree with that. But certainly will give it a shot and hope it’s worth supporting.

Excited to try this on Saturday or sooner!

Just checked them out this morning (Wed. Feb 15th). Nice place, good customer service, and tasty cupcakes. Wish their banana bread had walnuts, but otherwise was good. Bagels were ok, but maybe could have been a little better (like Bethesda bagels or especially the Bagels @ Calvert Woodley Fine Wines & Spirits).

I asked about Cheesecake, and they said they had some but it sold out super fast, so… hope to try that soon too!
