“Seen chilling out in Brookland/University Heights, close to the ‘buffet’ – my birdfeeders.”

If you spot a hawk or other bird of prey around town, lunching or otherwise, please send a photo and an email where you spotted it to [email protected] Hawks around Town is made possible by a generous grant from the Ben and Sylvia Gardner foundation.

Peregrine flacons perch at our cafeteria window, near the Convention Center. I think it’s the result of no more DDT? Seems a total contrast to my younger years when I never saw such birds. Any biologists know about this? Would be curious… Rachel Carson’s work, etc etc. They are lovely birds.

So the hawks eat the birds that are feeding at your bird feeders?

I refer to my feeders as a bait station.
