4235 Wisconsin Ave, NW at Veazey Street

On a personal note, thank you God. This is the long vacant dry cleaners that was once planned to be a Pie Five Pizza Co. in between Cava Grill and Nando’s Peri Peri. And now fantastic news (for those who live/work nearby) from Jessica Sidman:

“Sushi burritos are coming to Tenleytown. Buredo is opening at 4235 Wisconsin Ave. NW.”

You can see their menu here.

Update: Whoa! Thanks to a commenter for noting more coming soon Buredos:

I hope you mean Burrito-Sized Sushi. Sushi-sized burritos are the worst of both worlds!

IDK might be elegant. LOL Like if you’re gettin high with some real fancy folks…

    • hahaha too good – fixed it 🙂 – thanks!

Buredo is also opening up on H street, in the new-ish Anthology building, across from the new Whole Foods.

  • MadMax

Meh, not a fan at all, although several friends happen to be.

Any idea of when the Tenley location will open?

    • It needs a major renovation so it will be months away (I’d guess at least 6 months)

Better late than never, I suppose! Thank you!

        • You bet. I’ll be keeping a close eye on all the coming soon locations and will definitely update as they get closer to opening!

  • Epic Fail

Good to see the former dry cleaners space finally getting filled. Would it be too much to hope that the former FireLake Grill space across the street finally gets a tenant in 2017?

I wouldn’t hold out a lot of hope – with Fannie Mae vacating and it being so remote from the metro, it would really need to be a destination that draws people. Guapo’s had discussed moving into that location and then back-tracked.

      • Anony

“so remote from the metro”??? It is 3-4 blocks from the Tenleytown metro on a busy commercial Wisconsin Ave?

        • The Cava Grill and Nandos are doing very well.

        • maxwell smart

Yes – but have you tried to walk there from the Metro? Tenley Circle is somewhat of a barrier to get to this location, and aside from the other casual dining places that have opened (Nando’s, Cava) there is nothing else to draw people from the metro to this area – hence my comment that it would need to be a destination, not a Clyde’s knock-off, which Firelake essentially was. The Firelake space is huge – will need a lot of foot-traffic to keep a tenant afloat in there.

          • Sullivans Toy Store and Bourbon Coffee are also draws but the foot traffic is mostly AU students and workers from the psychiatric prison. This place will fit in well with the fast food up and down the block. At least it’s not a national chain.

I’d love the old Fireplace Grill to be filled but I suspect it wont’ be with a restaurant. The Macdonald’s really dominates that corner.

“but have you tried to walk there from the Metro?” – er yes, twice a day actually since I live very close to the Van Ness/Wisconsin intersection. It takes 6 minutes to walk from the intersection to the top of the Tenleytown metro escalators. I wouldn’t say Tenley Circle is a barrier anymore than I would say crossing any well trafficked street is a barrier (in this case the street being crossed is Nebraska Ave).

So excited to try it–keep meaning to but haven’t made it down to one of their locations yet. This is right around the corner from me, so I’ll have no excuse!

I HEART Buredo! Can’t wait to the H Street location opens, I’m moving to NE in a few months.
