    What’s up, d’Oc?

  • jim_ed

This is a shame. Bistro D’oc was a gem of a casual French bistro hidden amongst the tourist traps down there. They had a small regular menu but would then tote over this enormous dry erase board filled with the daily specials to your table. This was our standard restaurant for if we wanted to take guests out downtown but didn’t want to set reservations / stand in line.

      Agreed. A real loss.

      Agreed, shame it went out.

  • Eh, I used to work here ages ago when I first moved to DC and they would microwave the steaks.

Oh no!! I really liked Bistro d’Oc — sad to see it go.

Sad. We had our rehearsal dinner there at the upstairs bar, and they always remembered us when we returned. Sweet place. It will be missed.

I used to love this place, genuine french country fare, very tasty. Even though it wasn’t on the menu, they’d make Bearnaise sauce from scratch upon request. Then about two years ago I think it changed ownership, or at least they changed chefs and it was never the same. They were unable to make Bearnaise from scratch and that was the beginning of the end. Sad to see it go though.

Oh I will miss Bistro d’Oc. Wish I had known about the auction.

I remember going there back in the 90′ when it was Mondo X, a martini bar. After, it was Mike Baker’s 10th St Grill. My sister and a bunch of our friends waited tables there. Good times!

    • Before that, it was Dixie Grill. Middling southern food, but a huge selection of sodas from all over the South. And nice cheap pool tables upstairs.

Is their other restaurant still open? Bistro Ouest? It’s in like Palisades…

    • WorkNextDoor

Bistroquet is still open on MacArthur Blvd. The building was purchased. That’s why they closed. The same family has owned and operated it the whole time. Will miss it tons.
