“1bedroom, 1 bath basement unit in rowhouse in Bloomingdale neighborhood. Natural lighting, wood flooring, renovated kitchen, oversized closet, window blinds, w/d in unit, back and front entrance, backyard to entertain, street parking. NO SMOKING. Owner pays water bill.”

    My bet is that it doesn’t look as grim in real life as it does in the photos… but man, those are some grim-looking photos.

    lol! Was the person drunk when they took those photos? Where are photos of the “backyard to entertain,” but judging based on the existing photos, it’d just be a picture of tiki torch sticking out of a patch of concrete (with of course, the photo cutting off the top portion of the torch).

    $1700? That is laughable. Try $1100-1200. These rent gougers have no shame.

    As the owner of a rowhouse with a basement rental, I hate to criticize another person’s rental, but this is just depressing. Basement rentals do not have to be like this – and the owner should seriously put some effort into fixing this up. Or at least set the rent at a level commensurate with the place you are offering (this is about $200 too high, given the lack of anything included with the rent – water, really?).
