    Good quote – and yet 50 years later, we have an economy that depends on having multiple wars going on at the same time, not to mention massive spying on our own citizenry, and our only choices for presidential candidates support further war-making. War=the basis for our economy, and our main manufacturing as well. Read General Smedley Butler’s “War Is a Racket” – easily found online, where you can also listen to the speech if you don’t want to read it – written three decades before Kennedy’s quote, to see how little changes. One of the best texts for understanding this country – then and today.
