Ed. Note: You can see their NYC menus here.

Thanks to a reader for passing on this job application for The Smith coming to the old McCormick and Schmick’s space at 9th and F St, NW. They’re looking for a General Manager:

The Smith, a casual American Brasserie, is one of New York’s hottest restaurant concepts and the preeminent neighborhood restaurant. The energy inside is palpable, the staff engaging and friendly, and the food approachable and consistent – the trifecta that keeps guests coming back time after time. Jane, a casual American bistro, has been a standout in New York City since 2001.

From the beginning, Corner Table has been obsessed with building a positive, supportive environment for our employees who in turn take great care of our guests. The culture is guided by a few simple but powerful ideas:

People 1st Culture
Deliver Pleasure to Guests
Wait for Great, Hire #1’s
Fun @ Work
Say Yes
One Team Mentality
Do the Right Thing

The Smith’s locations in Manhattan (East Village, Midtown Manhattan, and Lincoln Square) are each in the Top 100 grossing restaurant in the United States, collectively serving over one million guests annually. In addition, two of the three are consistently in the Top 5 “most reserved” restaurants in New York City on Open Table, with The Smith Lincoln Square many times in the #1 spot. The Smith Nomad opened with huge success in March 2016 and The Smith Washington DC will open in early 2017.

Position Overview

Very excited for this opening- great location for it. Always enjoy going to The Smith in NYC- it will be a welcome addition in that neighborhood.
I wonder what they will do with the SPY Museum space now that they are relocating. That’s a perfect spot for a new bar/restaurant.

You mean something like Shake Shack, perhaps?

      • Anon Spock

Shake shack is one block away…..

        • Anon

It’s directly catty corner – occupying the old Spy Museum space.

Maybe they should’ve changed the name. Smith Point. Smith Commons. Mr. Smith’s. We are all smithed out.

  • DC225

    Ugh, another corporate restaurant “concept.”

    • I’ve eaten at one of their places a few times and, concept or not, it is very good. I also like Le Diplomate which I’m sure someone has described as concept at one point too.

I like the Smith. Normal food but some unique stuff too – but not fru fru, not small plates and you leave full.
I’ll be interested to see their prices. It can be a bit high in price (although their brunch comes with a free drink), but NYC and DC prices should not be the same.

  • Quotia Zelda

Good news! I’ve had great meals at a couple of the NYC locations.

Totally dating myself but I haven’t been there since it was Angelo & Maxie’s. Happy to try this out!
