12th and U Street, NW

A reader reports earlier this week:

“I think Buddha B Yoga on 12th and U Street closed. They no longer have a working phone and all their classes online are missing.”

On their facebook they wrote that Sunday was their last day:

“Thank you to all of the YOGIS and Buddha B TEACHERS who have practiced love and compassion — Last day of classes at Buddha B Yoga tomorrow 8/21/2016 OM SHANTI”

interesting…but not surprising. their business seemed to be mostly reliant on groupons (I myself bought one), which doesn’t seem like the best business model.

I’ve been a regular yogi there for almost three years. This was devastating!! Best wishes to Valerie and Rexx in the future.

Yep, I’m on their email list :( If you email Rexx directly, class packs, groupons, etc. will be honored by Yoga District, Yogaworks Studio (14th St), and the Washington Yoga Center (Tenleytown).

This place was a gem. I went here like every other day for the past year and loved every minute of it. It is sorely missed.

Aren’t they getting ready to redevelop this building into a high rise residential/retail? I heard from someone who lives in the condo next door that the developers have met with them a few times.

That would make sense given the closure of the Subway in the building, but I use the dry cleaning there and have heard nothing about them closing. This would also affect U St. Music Hall if true.

There’s a small building on the other side of the block spanned by the condo building, on 11th St, that is being redeveloped. It’s owned by the bank on the corner (but the bank’s corner lot isn’t included in the demo). The plan doesn’t span the full length of U St to include this building where the dry cleaner / 7-11 /U St Music Hall are, though.

Did they let anybody know in advance that they were closing? I was there at least eight times in the month of August and never heard an announcement that they were closing furthermore I had classes that I paid for as part of a package that I have now lost because I’d never got a refund nor they did give me the opportunity to use them all needless to say I’m Extremely disappointed in The communication pertaining to the closing. I expected better from this group of people

How does mine get in touch with Rexx about transferring classes?
