Your Afternoon Animal Fix

by Prince Of Petworth July 12, 2016 at 3:25 pm 17 Comments

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. Your photos will go into the queue (usually 2 weeks wait) and will be posted in the order I receive them. If you’ve already entered your pet and would like to do so again – that’s no problem – just space the entries out a bit. Please try to send horizontal photos 640×480 (medium size on your iphone) if possible. If you’re not using an iphone any size is fine.

“My little girl, Niña, was laid to rest on Saturday, July 9th, after giving us close to 17 years of life.

I rescued her from the shelter at 6 years old, after she had endured being abused and unsuccessfully shuffled between several homes. Miss Niña and I struck a deal, paw in hand, that my home was her last stop and we made sure to fill each others’ lives with incredible love and adventures.”

“My sphynx kitty Theodore Barestein aka Teddy Bare of Brookland”

“This is “Matilda KitKat Jones Jr.” who lives in Arlington. On the weekends she enjoys walks to DC for coffee and biscuits.”

I love sphynxs and devon rex kitties. I want one of my own but for whatever reason cats strongly dislike me. Are there any rescues for the breed near here?

  • Felony I

    Rest easy Nina

Nina really was incredible. At 16, she could beat youngster pups in paw races, she could leap with the best of them, she was trying to fight passing cars like a champion. She had personality delivered in the strangest, most glorious, most infuriating of ways. If you gained her trust, she was loyal to you in a way that would be admirable to find in a majority of humans. If you were up to no good, she knew it right away. Sometimes, when you look in a dogs eyes, you can sense a knowing, an intelligence. Nina had that.

Monica and Nina had a connection that was unique, a bond that is specific and beautiful. I knew it when I gained her trust 2 plus years ago when I gained Nina’s trust almost immediately, I knew it for the past 2 years as Nina has become my friend as well, and I knew it as we sent her home.

Thank you Popville for offering this to your readers. It’s an incredible thing.
