wow, nicely done. Good fit for a family who may not be sure where to buy. I live around the corner and this block and area are full of families (we are one of them). very nice quiet tree lines street.

I have no idea what that thing on the dining room table is, but it reminds me of the scene in “You’ve Got Mail,” when Tom Hanks describes his father’s current wife as someone who studied decorating at Caesar’s Palace. It looks very much like this rubbery thing he picks up that has no discernible purpose.

      fruit basket maybe?
      .
nice, but even so, is it a bit pricy for the location? which isn’t to say they won’t get it…

    • textdoc

Hahaha! I haven’t seen the movie, but what an apt quotation.

      • bll

oh please, please watch it. it’s one of my faves and produces such quotes as “It’s a lovely store, and in a week it will be something really depressing, like a Baby Gap,” and “this place is a tomb. I’m going to the nut shop where it’s fun.”

        • shawsomesauce

“how do you sleep at night?!” “Oh I take this wonderful over the counter called ultradorm”. LOVE Parker Posey in this one too.

  • west_egg

Waaaaay to many competing/clashing patterns on the main floor. (Counters, two kinds of backsplash tile, brick wall, fireplace surround, whatever is going on up front…) Edit!!

    • west_egg

      *too many

    • textdoc

Agreed, west_egg. The walls struck me as REALLY busy.

  • LedroitTigah

Umm, is that astroturf on the wall in the kitchen?!

    • bll

that’s what I was wondering as well.

  • A

    HIDEOUS. YUCK, YUCK, YUCK.

  • textdoc

I was looking through the photos again and noticed this time that the refrigerator doors are mounted the wrong way. Looks like some of the effort spent on decor should’ve been diverted to more functional stuff.

    • west_egg

Hmm. Looks like a standard side-by-side to me?

      • textdoc

Sorry, I should’ve specified (and remembered which kitchen I was looking at) — it’s the fridge in the basement in-law suite.
        .
As opposed to the one in the kitchen with Astroturf. ;)

  • navyard

I don’t care for the competing granite / backsplash / moss or astroturf / and is that wallpaper that’s meant to look like granite? Too much for my taste.
The astroturf wall covering will stink to high heaven once anyone fries up some fish-sticks!

The thing that caught my eye though was that the deck supports appear to be standing on concrete “rounds” instead of sunk into concrete that is deep in ground. I hope I’m wrong, because if that deck isn’t supported properly, it will be a costly fix to sink new concrete supports.

I guess money doesn’t buy taste, but it does buy s lot of tacky wallpaper and imitation period furniture.

  • wpk_dc

I love this! If I was in the market for a furnished rental, I’d definitely want this. I’m not really familiar with the neighborhood though.
