Pedestal sinks in places that only have 1 bathroom drive me crazy!

Our master bath has two pedestal sinks and NO cabinets. Who does such a thing?

Yeah — pedestal sinks look attractive (and probably “age” better than vanities)… but they are sooo impractical.
The guest bathroom in my house came with a pedestal sink AND a framed mirror over it (no medicine cabinet), meaning that there was NO storage. Because of where the lighting is located, replacing the mirror with a medicine cabinet would’ve resulted in some (most?) of the light being blocked.
Over time, I scored a few ClosetMaid-type white cabinets that worked well for storage. I used to think I’d redo the bathroom and add a vanity… but now I probably won’t, because the space between the sink pedestal and one of the cabinets turned out to be a perfectly sized nook for my cat’s litterbox.

As you have found, the pedestal sink in a small bathroom leaves room for much needed floorspace.
I’m with you on lack of medicine cabinets behind mirrors, though. Luckily, I have always had one, in each of my many apartments.
I far prefer pedestal and wall hung sinks, though and hate my current vanity.

Also – a regular bathroom vanity – under sink type cabinet – can be a great place for the cat box. Just saw a hole in the door, or if really handy/ambitious, install a cat door.
