    Can’t wait

  • I wouldn’t be surprised if they open early. Once they got started on this building it’s gone up as fast as any other I’ve seen in DC.

    • dh

true, but this building is gigantic. might take a long time to finish it. also, the building across the street went up fast and looks almost complete, but it is gigantic too, as it goes back far. seems like a lot more work to be done there too before opening. either way, it’s very exciting. that block is already transformed. h street is very lucky.

Yea, the industriousness of the team working on this building is inspiring. They’re up early and are often busy after dark. And they work weekends.

inspiring? that’s a little thick. Do the immediate neighbors appreciate that they’re up early and work weekends. That’s usually not permitted

I don’t have any objections to new development, but let’s not pretend that it doesn’t impact quality of life for people living in close proximity

I live on 6th St a block up from the development. I could not be more happy with how quickly they are getting this thing up. Honestly, I’m so used to the construction noise at this point that it is just background and I don’t even notice it. If early mornings/late evenings mean this thing getting done close to on time, I am all for it.

No, it’s on schedule – not ahead.

  • NewToNE

Who wants to wager that they open before the streetcar starts carrying passengers?

    • Kingman Park

We’ll have a new president before the streetcar accepts passengers.

      • Planner

And probably another new president beyond that one!

Has there been an official announcement of The Wydown’s second location in this building yet?

    • NewToNE

Ooo, first I’m hearing of Wydown going there. Thanks. This building is enormous – are there plans for additional retail other than Whole Foods (and possibly Wydown)?

      • Timmy

There was an article a while back saying both WeWork and Wydown were going to be in the building. The Wydown guys shrugged off those rumors at the time – in hindsight because a lease wasn’t signed. I asked them recently, and they said that it is happening, and they’re pretty psyched. No idea about WeWork.

        • highestville

WeWork is definitely in, but they haven’t started construction on that part of the building yet. It will front 7th St behind the building on the corner of 7th and H.

  • Kingman Park

    I’d rather have a Wegman’s tbh.

    • As long as it’s not the Murray’s that was there I think it’s a win regardless.

      • Kingman Park

Maybe it’s just me but I’d prefer to have a grocery store that doesn’t jack up prices just because of where you’re buying it. Although I will say Whole Foods’ hot bar is amazing.

        • Anon

Move out of DC? Every single grocery store EOTR jacks up their prices. Wegman would do the same.

        • Caroline

If you’re buying whatever you would at a normal grocery store the prices are the same at WF. You just need the willpower to avoid the fancy stuff they also stock.

But no Apple Store in the bathroom? You need to raise your expectations in BOOMTOWN.

How soon before they redo Hechinger mall? Developers have to be salivating.

Any updates on how the Navy Yard location is coming along?
