Your Afternoon Animal Fix

by Prince Of Petworth November 10, 2015 at 3:30 pm 25 Comments

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. Your photos will go into the queue (usually 2 weeks wait) and will be posted in the order I receive them. If you’ve already entered your pet and would like to do so again – that’s no problem – just space the entries out a bit. Please try to send horizontal photos 640×480 (medium size on your iphone) if possible. If you’re not using an iphone any size is fine.

“Nash has been known to be bookish and uptight. Not today though. (Cleveland Park)”

“This is Denali and he is new to PoPville. He’s a 3 month old Australian Bernedoodle who just loves eating branches, though unfortunately also loves the chicken bones found in Mt Pleasant. He loves to wrestle with big dogs while waiting outside for an outpouring of attention.”

  • I Dont Get It

Penny needs to be rescued again.

    • charlotte

your dark soul needs to be rescued again

      • jessiespano

agreed. who trolls cute animal posts?

      • KBM

Back down, Charlotte. I am quite sure “I Don’t Get It.” is just joking. Yikes!

    • Amanda

What is there not to get about a dog in a Halloween costume? SO CUTE! The cutest flower I’ve ever seen.

      • Rich

She does not appear to be having a good time. My first reaction was “hasn’t Penny suffered enough?” Her humans need figure out what she wants for Halloween (probably some treats!).

        • I Dont Get It

          Free Penny!

Thanks for ruining penny’s big moment with your ignorant comments. Now I can’t even show her this post because she’s very sensitive and will be really upset to see anyone implying that she doesn’t have the world’s best mom. If you are REALLY concerned for penny’s well-being, I can assure you she is extremely happy and healthy and was under no distress whatsoever while taking this picture. Penny and I are busy living our best lives so we are done wasting our time on this, enjoy your weird life trolling the internet for pictures of dogs in flower costumes to comment on. Maybe your time would be better used doing something useful. Here’s a link where I adopted penny from, go volunteer and help some actual dogs in need: http://www.warl.org

Penny is adorable in that costume!

    • I Dont Get It

      She doesn’t look happy!

      • charlotte

        SHE IS THE HAPPIEST.

  • OMG Denali I want to snuggle with you

  • Amanda

    PENNY IS THE CUTEST FLOWER!!!!!!!

  • Tall E

I love the Halloween costume, but I’m not convinced Penny does.

Nash’s little fangs against the black fur are so cute.

Denali still is the most huggable puppy around.

  • RD

    I love NASH!!!!

    • cMaryC

Nash has appeared previously on Popville as a window-climbing view enthusiast. He is too clever, a smidge odd, and delighted with being so.

  • 2b or not 2b cute

Ambivalent about putting dogs in costumes. It’s awfully cute and funny–for us–but no dog I’ve ever known has expressed a wish to be dressed up. On the other hand, many dogs seem to like doing things that draw positive attention from humans, so who knows? That mournful expression on Penny’s face is probably permanent, BTW. So it’s a little unfair to blame it on the costume.

    • anonymouse_dianne

Some dogs really like to dress up. Bad Rap puts their pit bulls in pastel colored tutus for the Pride Parade and I’ve seen videos of it and they are happy smiling pits.

    • houseintherear

… also worth noting that what we see as dogs “smiling” is usually a dog feeling stress (open mouth/panting).

My current dog and last dog have both LOVED sweaters and jackets. Last pup I had, had a major kidney disorder and was extremely sick so the warmth was great for him since he got cold so easily. As soon as September hit he was rooting around in his bin for sweaters and would pull them out and bring them to us to put on him. Current pup is wirehaired (so no undercoat) and gets cold easily so once it drops below 30 he refuses to go outside without his coat on.

Denali is the cutest dog EVER! I have a dog (black lab mix) and hope to see Denali at the Walter Pierce dogpark soon!!

Penny is a splitting image of my Perry. By any chance, do you happen to know her breed? I rescued Perry about a year ago and I don’t have any real information on his breed.

    Thanks!

    • charlotte

i don’t know! my best guess has been lab, beagle and some other mystery breed mixed into that. whatever she is, she’s perfect :D
